Crop Application Manager

Merced Farming has a full time permanent position available for a Crop Application Manager to join our team near Wee Waa, NSW. Working under the supervision of the Crop Production Manager, successful applicants will be required to carry out the primary duties of the role including:

  • Operation of self propelled spray rigs (John Deere 4023 and 4630 models), including service and some maintenance.

  • Operation of fertiliser spreaders, including service, calibration and some maintenance.

  • Coordinating collection and delivery of required product to the relevant farm with either vehicle or farm mix truck (Light Rigid flat top truck).

  • Management of on farm product inventory including chemical, fertiliser and seed in the on farm warehouse/chemical shed and fertiliser storage.

  • Completion of spray jobs including mixing loads, operating spray rig, recording conditions and relevant information in log books.

  • Recording of all crop applications and relevant information using the AgWorld platform.

  • Work will be managed by the Crop Production Manager and during busy periods will have assistance on the ground to mix and re-fill between loads.

During periods when crop applications are not required, the role may also include some of the following secondary duties:

  • Field work; operating plant and equipment to complete ground preparation, ploughing, furrowing and cultivating of fields for cropping and planting of crops.

  • Farm maintenance and hygiene; dragscraping of roads, weed control (including hand spraying) and use of earthmoving machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, graders and laser buckets.

  • Harvest work; operation of harvest equipment during harvest activities of winter cereals in spring, summer grains in summer and cotton in autumn.

Applicants should have prior experience in operating spray rigs and handling chemicals to be suitable for this role. Applicants will require a reasonable degree of physical fitness as farm work can be labour intensive. Applicants must hold a current driver's license (Light Rigid class would be seen favourably) and have their own transport to work but will not need to provide their own vehicle for work purposes. It would be advantageous for applicants to already hold Chemcert accreditation and First Aid.

The position will involve an above award remuneration package including a salary, based on experience of the applicant (paid fortnightly), and compulsory superannuation, a work vehicle and may include accommodation if required. Our farms are located close to Wee Waa (8km) and Narrabri (32km) so would allow for the successful applicant to live in town.
